Do you have the time?
Self-publishing is time consuming.  You, the author, will be the one editing or arranging for your book to be edited.  The self-published author makes all the decisions - from the cover art and design to the page-layout and type-style.  There's much to consider and decide, and that's before you start the marketing process.  It's thrilling, but it also require your full attention.  There's plenty of information on-line too, but as with all projects, it's up to you to devote the effort, and of course that can take a fair amount of time.
